The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science at Purdue University invites applications for multiple appointments as Professor of Practice in Mathematics at Purdue University Indianapolis to begin in August 2025.  These appointments will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice.

These positions are non-tenure track faculty positions with multi-year contracts, a promotion track, and a focus on undergraduate teaching and course administration.  Duties will typically consist of teaching 5-6 courses in Indianapolis each academic year, including large-lecture courses, course coordination, and/or other related administrative activities. Successful applicants will have a documented record of effective teaching, the ability to teach a range of courses in the undergraduate curriculum, a commitment to teaching, mentoring, and interacting with undergraduate students (including those traditionally underrepresented in mathematics), and a willingness to observe classes and provide teaching guidance to new instructors. Candidates should specifically note in their application any experience they have had with teaching large-lecture Calculus classes, teaching undergraduate courses beyond Calculus, coordinating learning management or online homework systems, implementing innovative teaching methods, and any other unique teaching qualifications. Candidates must have a PhD (or its equivalent) in mathematics or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Teaching experience after obtaining a PhD will be viewed favorably.

Professors of Practice faculty will be involved in departmental activities and have professional development opportunities.  Salary and benefits are competitive.
