Dana Smith receives the Flora Roberts Award

The Department of Mathematics is proud to announce that Dana Smith, a senior double majoring in mathematics and apparel design, has been chosen to receive the 2016 Flora Roberts Award.
The Flora Roberts Award is given to the most outstanding senior woman at Purdue in recognition of their character, scholarship and involvement in the community.
Dana's hometown is Livonia, Michigan and she graduates not only with her double major, but also minors in French and Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies.
During her time at Purdue, she has completed undergraduate research in the Math Education department, participated in the PATH Homeless Street Outreach Team, led service spring break trips to Memphis, Tennessee, and founded two student organizations: the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and United Students Against Sweatshops.
Following graduation, she hopes to continue using her analytical and creative skills to improve others' lives and create positive social change.
