1997 Distinguished Mathematics Alumni

Fon-Che Liu, Professor of Mathematics at National Taiwan University in Taipei, was one of eight School of Science alumni honored at the annual School of Science Distinguished Alumni Award banquet on April 25.

Professor Liu received his Ph.D. in 1968 under Casper Goffman. He has had a distinguished career in Taiwan, serving as Director of the Mathematics Institute at Academia Sinica (1984-86), Director of the Research Promotion Center for Mathematics of the National Science Council of Taiwan (1988-91), and President of the Chinese Mathematical Society, Taipei (1990-92).
