Math Majors May Opt for Business
Traditionally, mathematics majors have found jobs in computer programming, statistical analysis, research and development, teaching, etc. Recently, however, there has been a growing demand for mathematics business majors. Many companies are finding that their fields are becoming so technical that they need individuals with the kinds of skills taught in mathematics departments.
In response to this need, the Mathematics Department has created a mathematics "Business Option." Students in this option will take a strong program in mathematics, complemented by courses in statistics, computer science, and, of course, management.
Students graduating in the business option should be in high demand in the job market. They should also be very attractive to management graduate programs.
